Control aerosols at their source - without sacrificing quality or ease of care.
By creating a broad negative pressure zone directly above the oral cavity, the Safe-T-Shield provides better evacuation than "bell-mouth" suction devices. The curved manifold design has a volume over 5 times the average adult exhalation – more than enough to contain a sneeze or cough.
The large, clear Shield is positioned between your team and droplet & bioburden ejection created by dental treatment – while still allowing unrestricted access to the treatment zone.
A wide variety of Installed Safe-T-Shield options are available.
While the mobile Safe-T-Shield allows immediate use, installed versions take the technology to even higher levels of protection, control and ease-of-use. Installed Safe-T-Shields provide higher levels of filtration, exhaust options, and reduced maintenance. They deploy easily, and reduce operatory clutter.
Why consider an Installed Safe-T-Shield?
The Installed Difference
Multiple Installed Safe-T-Shields may be ducted to a dedicated, central vacuum. Captured aerosols are passed through enhanced filters and returned to your HVAC system, or exhausted outside the facility. In either case, the aerosols are removed from the operatory.
Capable of HEPA 14 Filtration
For central HVAC filtration, the advantage is POWER. These systems can handle a much higher filtration rate than mobile units, which typically top out at H13. While that level provides significant protection, H14 is rated at 99.995% capture of COVID sized viral particles. The power advantage also allows installed units to provide greater suction - typically 150 cfm or higher.
Don't Filter - Exhaust!
As an alternative to filtering, Installed Safe-T-Shields can be set up to exhaust the captured aerosols outside the practice altogether.
Negative Pressure
Whether you filter or exhaust, an installed Safe-T-Shield can be used to create a negative airflow in many operatories. This approach is OSHA's current recommendation for infection control in dental operatories. (jump to the OSHA doc near the bottom... Click Here.)

Preparing Workplaces for COVID-19
In many instances, an installed Safe-T-Shield can be utilized to create a negative airflow environment in the operatory.
This is the current recommendation for "some settings, such as for aerosol generating procedures."
